Everything was going up at the same time in Shawinigan at the onset of the 20th century. The two N.A.C. and Shawinigan-1 generating stations in the foreground and the aluminum smelter in the background. Note the funicular in the top right corner. It was used to transport heavy pieces of equipment like turbines and generators.
